Infant Baptisms

Expectant parents should enroll in our baptism preparation program early in pregnancy and before selecting godparents.  This program is held every other month in the odd months.  Parents must be registered, participating members of the parish for ideally six months prior to scheduling the baptism.  Baptisms are scheduled the last weekend of the month at a rotating mass.  Baptisms may also occur the second Saturday of the month outside of mass.  Ordinarily no baptisms are celebrated during the season of Lent.

Christian Witness Eligibility Form

Older Children Baptism

RCIC: (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) Some children over the age of 7 have not been baptized.  These children and their families take part in a special formation process which prepare them for the celebration of the Sacrament of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and in some cases Confirmation). Older children's baptisms are by special arrangement with the Parish Office for more information contact Cathie Liccar at 246-6800.

Matrimony

Couples intending to marry should contact the parish as soon as there is an agreement to marry.  At least nine (9) months is needed before the anticipated wedding to prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage.  In order to begin marriage preparation, one party must be a registered and active member of St. Margaret’s Parish for ideally six months

Then contact St. Margaret's office and Father Robert H. Stewart for the scheduling of the wedding and church.

Sacrament of the Sick

Please notify the Parish office when a member of your family is hospitalized or confined to home. It is the responsibility of the family, not the hospital, to notify the parish. Due to privacy laws, parishioners who are hospitalized must indicate, at the time of admission, they want to receive communion. Those who desire continued visits in their home during convalescence should contact the parish office. If the church is closed and there is an emergency, please contact Fr. Robert's cell phone: 816-686-3103.

Confirmation

The Diocesan guidelines for Confirmation state that the Sacrament should be celebrated when a young person is in the second semester of their sophomore year. Registration for the program begins in November of their 9th grade year. Our parish offers a process for preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation that has young people meeting in groups of 10 -12 youth in our church. Please phone Cheryl Immethun at 246-6800 for more information.

Reconciliation

In the second grade, students will be prepared at home and in Religious Education classes to receive First Reconciliation.  (see below)

Eucharist

In January, parish children in grade two begin preparing for their First Eucharist with their parents as well as in the classroom and conclude their preparation with a retreat.  Older children who have not received Eucharist are welcome to participate.  (see below)

Parents, please keep in mind that second grade is the earliest children should receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist and your child may have a deeper experience by waiting another year or two before they receive the Body and Blood of Christ.  Children must have had at least one previous year of religious education prior to receiving sacraments.
