Adult
Education for Adults
RCIA
If
you want to deepen your catholic faith or interested in seeing what is
involved in joining the Catholic Church, RCIA classes will be 7-9pm
September-April. Contact Fr. Robert for more information.
Scripture
Study
Adults are invited to explore one book of the Bible on Wednesday morning
from 9-10am in the parish office or Thursday evening from 7-8pm at the
church. These
scripture groups are personal journeys to deepen the meaning of your
faith. Previous experience or
a Master in Theology is not required.
Confirmation
Teens meet in small groups at our church. Preparation for this Sacrament is a seventeen-month
program beginning in the middle of their freshman year and teens will be
confirmed in the spring of their sophomore year. Registration will be held in November.
Middle
School
Middle School students will use the
"THE EDGE" by Life Teen, Bible, Talk Sheets and other books to become
involved and excited about discussing important issues so they may grow in
their faith. Some of the topics discussed
are: Why Go Mass, Friendship, Overcoming Peer Pressure, Family
Matters, and Parents Are People too. They will meet on the second and fourth
Sunday of each month from noon-1:30pm.
Grade
School
Children in grades 1-6 meet weekly on either Tuesdays (6-7:15pm) or Wednesday (5-6:15). Grades
1-5 will use the Faith First - Legacy Edition.
The children are taught about Scripture and their Catholic Faith.
At the end of each chapter are questions asking the children: ‘What
does this (what I learned) have to do with the Catholic Church?
and ‘What does this (what I learned) have to do
with me?’ The last page of each chapter is a lesson to do with their
family. Faith First has an interactive website for students and
excellent information for adults www.faithfirst.com.
Sixth grade students engage in a beginner Bible Study focusing on the Old Testament using the Break Through Bible and workbook.
The program at St.
Margaret of Scotland is viewed as a balance to and not a substitute for the
Christian formation of children by parents in the home. Parents agreed to
this duty at their child’s baptism.
For grades 1-8 the fees for Religious Education for the
2008-2009 school year
is: one child - $45.; two children - $90.; family (three
or more) - $110.
Registration weekend is August 23 and 24 following all Masses.
Registrations after September 4 are subject to a $20 late fee.
No child will be denied religious education
because of family financial difficulties.

RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children)
Some children over the age of 7 have not been baptized. These children and their families take part in a special
formation process which prepare them for the celebration of the Sacrament of Initiation
(Baptism, Eucharist, and in some cases Confirmation).
