FROM FR. ROBERT’S CLUTTERED DESK............. December 13, 2007 Dear Parishioners, As we approach the end of this calendar year I would like to thank you for all the blessing you have bestowed upon this church, as well as bring a few things to your attention. This is a time when some of you are reviewing your charitable giving to the church. If you are considering a tax advantage for 2007, your contribution check must be dated no later than December 31, 2007 and received in the parish office by 4:30 pm on January 2, 2008. The parish office will be sending out annual statements on January 3rd. Your giving statement will come in a packet of information. This packet will include a form to update your family information for the parish census, a Stewardship of Time and Talent for the whole family to state their intention to continue in their current ministries as well as an opportunity to add or change their ministries. Also in your packet you will have a postcard of Helpful Information, I ask you to keep this postcard handy for your use throughout the New Year. One last item that will be included in your packet will be a Stewardship of Treasure. On this form we ask you to please state your intention of regular monetary support for your parish in 2008. You will be hearing more about this item through out the month of January At Christmas time it is my practice to identify a church need not covered by regular giving to which the church family may contribute. This year I have identified the need for a storage garage. Our Knights of Columbus have offered to spearhead this project in offering their building talents and of course soliciting hands-on people power from the parish. We will need money for the concrete work and building supplies. We want to build a three car style garage at the end of the south parking lot. Currently the parish rents a storage unit and has things stored at the duplex that the parish rents for my residence. If you wish to contribute monetarily to this project please mark your contribution for “Storage Unit”. Our parish has been given a wonderful fundraising opportunity without asking you to open your pocket book. We have all heard about the new Sprint Center that has opened downtown. They are allowing non-profit organizations to come in and staff the concession stands during events. 12% of the profit from said stands will be donated to the church; many of you may remember a similar deal out at the Kansas Speedway. This is better; first of all it is climate controlled, we have a guaranteed donation and require less people per event. We have earmarked this as a debt reduction fundraiser. Here is a partial listing of the dates we are committed to for 2008; Jan. 5th & 13th, Feb. 8th-10th & 13th, and Mar. 7th-9th. We need fifteen people per event. Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. Sincerely in Christ, Rev. Robert H. Stewart Pastor
