CONFIRMATION
“and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into
our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us.”
Romans 5:5
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is open to all high school teens
who belong to St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church. Our Confirmation
program brings teens and adults together to study and explore how growth in the
Spirit is a life long journey. Together participants share in their
journey, and commit to share in the mission of Jesus - to know and worship God
and love your neighbor. The sacrament is received by choice of the teen.
He or she must assume ownership of the promises which were made on their behalf
at Baptism.
Catechism of the Catholic Church 1309 – “Preparation
for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate
union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit - his
actions, his gifts, and his biddings - in order to be more capable of assuming
the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life. To this end catechesis for
Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus
Christ, the universal Church as well as the parish community. The latter bears
special responsibility for the preparation of confirmands.”
